WhyAfrica’s 2025 Road Trip ready to roll
Yes, we’re back! The 2025 WhyAfrica Road Trip is locked, loaded, and ready to roll.
By Leon Louw founder of WhyAfrica and editor of the WhyAfrica magazine
Hard hats packed. Safety boots packed. Biltong packed. Koeksisters packed. Tents and sleeping bags packed. We’re having trouble with which South Africa beer to pack though; advice is urgently needed.
For 45 days, we’ll be crisscrossing southern Africa, visiting more than 30 pivotal project sites that will include 18 mining operations and exciting ventures in agriculture, conservation, energy, infrastructure, water, forestry, quarrying, ESG, environmental management, and tourism.
We’re not just heading out for an adventure, we’re getting ready to once again cross bridges, venture down deep mines, climb mountains, and canoe a few rapids in our quest to uncover new opportunities, highlight critical challenges, and keep our partners, sponsors, members, and advertisers informed with firsthand insights from the ground.

Great sponsors behind every kilometre
And behind every kilometre we travel are our fantastic sponsors. This year they are all proudly South African companies who’ve already made a major impact across Africa and around the world.
These are big names that need no introduction, and they’re supporting WhyAfrica because they believe in our values, our mission, and most of all: our deep love for Africa.
This year’s trip is bigger, bolder, and better than ever. We’re covering more ground, exploring more sectors, and telling more authentic African stories. Expect powerful interviews, in-depth site visits, raw field reporting, and untold stories that matter.
This year’s WhyAfrica Road Trip story (and that of our partners, sponsors, members and advertisers) won’t just be told, it will be immortalised in a documentary film and a coffee table book that tells the real African story, as seen and experienced on the ground and on the road.
There’s still one week left to become part of the 2025 WhyAfrica Road Trip. Don’t miss your chance to align your brand with one of the most dynamic, on-the-ground media expeditions in Africa.
