Junior explorer Koryx Copper’s Haib project in Namibia ticks all the right boxes.

As an early-stage exploration project Koryx Copper’s Haib project in Southern Namibia ticks all the boxes for investors interested in early-stage copper projects in Africa.

The geology in this neck of the woods is favourable and prospectivity is high. The area lies within the Namaqua-Natal Metamorphic Province and the adjacent to the Kalahari Copper Belt region.

Haib is a stone throw from Springbok in the Northern Cape Province of South Africa, which is famous for its copper mining, especially in the Okiep Copper District.

Springbok trend under-explored

Although various junior explorers have been targeting these regions the trend between Springbok and southern Namibia stretching towards Karasburg in Namibia is under-explored compared to other areas in the Kalahari Copper Belt.

Haib though (a large PEA-stage copper/molybdenum porphyry deposit) has a long history of exploration and project development by multiple operators.

More than 80,000m of drilling has been conducted at Haib since the 1970’s with significant exploration programs led by companies including Falconbridge (1964), Rio Tinto (1975) and Teck (2014).

Extensive metallurgical testing and various technical studies have also been completed at Haib to date.

Koryx’s own exploration drilling

In addition to historical drilling, Koryx is undertaking their own exploration drilling and is currently in phase two of their programme. Early results from 12 drill holes (3,603m) looks encouraging and additional drill rigs will arrive within the next few weeks which will improve the company’s drilling rate.

The company has outstanding and experienced executive, operational and technical teams.  According to Heye Daun, Koryx Copper’s President and CEO the technical team is making excellent progress with test work towards demonstrating the feasibility of a large-scale conventional sulfide flotation concentration flowsheet.

“We have also made exceptional progress with the ancillary studies related to tailings deposition, site infrastructure, power and water supply, and concentrate transportation,” says Daun.

Great location for an exploration project

Haib is close to the Orange River, the border between South Africa and Namibia. The national highway to the capital city of Windhoek is about 15 km to the west of the project.

There is a rail connection about 120km north of Haib at Grunau. This rail connection could give access to ports on the west coast of Namibia at Luderitz or Walvis Bay or to those in South Africa via the border crossing at Ariamsvlei about 180 km to the east.
