Koryx Copper is WhyAfrica’s Pick Of The Week

Not for the first time this year Koryx Copper is WhyAfrica’s Pick Of The Week

By Leon Louw founder of WhyAfrica and editor of the WhyAfrica magazine.

WhyAfrica picked Koryx Copper as a top early-stage exploration outfit to keep an eye on earlier this year because of the obvious potential at the company’s Haib copper project in the south of Namibia.

This week the company makes it to the top of WhyAfrica’s Pick Of The Week list for a second time in quick succession. Although Haib is still 100% on our radar, Koryx released new information about their very prospective exploration endeavours in Zambia, which has piqued my interest.

Great Zambian potential

Koryx owns 51% of the Luanshya West and Mpongwe exploration licenses in Zambia, with an option to earn up to 80% over the next 30 months.

The licenses cover approximately 745 square kilometres in the heart of the Zambian Copperbelt, close to the western margin of the Kafue Anticline which hosts significant other copper deposits.

The Zambian Copperbelt makes up part of the larger Central African Copperbelt (CACB) which extends north into the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The CACB is the world’s largest sedimentary rock hosted stratiform copper province and includes at least 14 giant deposits, amongst them First Quantum Mineral’s Kansanshi and Sentinel, as well as Ivanhoe’s Kamoa and Kakula

Building a solid foundation

Koryx has a budget of more than USD1.2-million for the 2025 Zambia work programs.

According to Heye Daun, Koryx Copper’s President and CEO, this program builds on the valuable work done previously.

“Our work has been enhanced by a wealth of historical data which the Koryx exploration team have been able to source and which they have spent the last few months interpreting.

“Once the rainy season ends in the next few weeks, we expect to build on this with a significant field work program, including drill testing some of the targets which we have identified. The Zambian copper belt continues to be one of the world’s hottest copper exploration jurisdictions, and we are very excited to be adding value to our Zambian portfolio.

“This is in addition to the ongoing development of our world-class, large-scale and open pit Haib copper deposit in Namibia, which continues to be Koryx flagship asset,” says Daun.

WhyAfrica tracks exploration projects in Africa

WhyAfrica tracks early-stage exploration projects across Africa and identifies those projects with the most potential for investors in Africa to feature in WhyAfrica’s Hawks Eye Report that is compiled on a quarterly basis. We pick a top project every two weeks and publish it as WhyAfrica’s Pick Of The Week on WhyAfrica’s website.
